Provision for warranty is normally calculated on the bases of sales made during the period.

Warranty = % of Warranty x Sales

Example

Sales = 120,000
Warranty= 8%
How much provision is required?

Solution

Warranty = % of Warranty x Sales
= 8% x 120,000
=9,600
